From my heart to yours.

So, this past week…well, it began with a great day of fellowship on Sunday. The fellowship around the Lord’s Supper was as it should be passionate and powerful. Then my wife and I went to spend a little time with the part of our family that lives in that distant foreign land of Indiana. We had great fun with the kids and great fellowship with Joe and Sarah. God gave us a wonderful few days. On Thursday, we drove all day to get home. Typically I really enjoy driving. It gives me time to clear my head and open my heart again. It gives me the chance to “spin the mud out of my tires”. Last night in our Bible study we had the glorious opportunity to study and discuss the gospel with each other and an unbelieving friend. As I’m sure you would agree, getting to spend an hour and a half sharing the gospel with someone who desperately needs it is just awesome, especially working through Romans 3 & 4 with open Bibles.

Thanksgiving is coming…my absolutely favorite time of year. It means cool weather, family getting together, lots of great food, lots of laughter, and extended quiet times while chasing deer around the woods. Christmas is great, but for me…Thanksgiving is the best. It most certainly reminds me of all that God has given me because of His immeasurable kindness. Have a great holiday!

In Him,

P. Tim

From my heart to yours.

In this and every other political season, we are faced with politician after politician “huffing and puffing”, sounding off from their soap boxes, promising, predicting, pontificating, as if they were in fact, “large and in charge.” Certainly God’s Word identifies these men and women as instruments and servants of God in this world, with or without their consent. Certainly we should respect our duly elected or appointed leaders and pray for them. However, it is important for us to put the power and promises of men in the proper light of God’s power and promises.

Isaiah 40:8-17
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. 9 Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!” 10 Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him. 11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. 12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? 13 Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel? 14 Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? 15 Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust. 16 Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering. 17 All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.”

I value as I’m sure you do the precious stewardship of the freedom that comes with our American citizenship. I am truly grateful for the privilege to vote in free elections. As I’m sure you agree, I am also delighted that the campaign commercials are over, at least for a while. We heard a lot of promises and predictions…some of them might even be true! I want to praise Him today for the simple and profound truth that “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5.
