Parent Conversation Guide (2.2.22)

Passage: Romans 7:14-27

Overview:
We all face tension every single day. We may face it at work, home, school, etc. Not only do we face it because there are deadlines to meet and tasks to accomplish, but there is also tension in our choices. Will we choose God's way or will we choose our own way? Because of sin there is a very real struggle deep inside of us. This week we're going to talk about where that struggle comes from and what the hope we have in Jesus is.

What do we want our teens to know?

• We all have a sin nature
• The struggle is real, but so is God
• Jesus has rescued us from the penalty of sin

What do we want our teens to do?

• Trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sin
• Rely on God for help as we fight this battle against sin

Ways to follow up with your teen this coming week:

• Be open with your teen about struggles you have. If you are open and vulnerable, they will be more likely to as well. 
• Create a space where your teen can always safely come and talk to you about struggles they are facing in regards to sin they're struggling with.
• Continually communicate to your teen that you are there for them and pray with them each day that God will give them the power to fight off temptation.
