Faith over Fear

Jun 21, 2026    Pastor Pete Radford

Genesis 12 marks a turning point in God's redemptive story. God calls Abram and makes extraordinary promises: a great nation, a great name, and a blessing that will reach all the families of the earth. Yet Abram's circumstances seem to contradict every promise—he has no children, no land, and no clear roadmap. Still, when God says "go," Abram obeys.

This passage challenges us to consider how we respond to God's call. Do we demand certainty before we move, or do we trust God's promises even when we cannot see the outcome? Abram's story is both inspiring and honest. Alongside remarkable faith, we also see moments of fear and failure when circumstances seem stronger than God's word.

Genesis 12 reminds us that faith is not perfection; it is choosing to trust God despite uncertainty. As our own expectations and plans are shaken, we are called to anchor our confidence not in what we can see, but in the character and promises of our faithful, promise-keeping God.
